Tuscia Viterbese is a relatively well-known area. Its name originally referred to the Viterbo area, part of Umbria and lower Tuscany.
A land rich in ancient traces of Etruscan civilisation and much more besides, starting with Lakes Bolsena and Vico, the Cimini mountains, famous for chestnuts and hazelnuts, the great Maremma plains and a coastline that extends as far as Mount Argentario. At the centre of this area lies Viterbo, the ancient city of popes, whose centre remains a jewel of medieval architecture. Tarquinia, Vulci, Villa Lante, Civita di Bagnoregio, Bomarzo, Tuscania, Bolsena and numerous others are worth a visit.
