A medieval city still encircled by its original 13th century turreted walls, located southwest of its more famous neighbour Florence.
The treasures preserved inside the city walls include the impressive and picturesque stone Torre Grossa, and the 12th century cathedral with frescoes by Ghirlandaio in the Santa Fina chapel.The hub of the historic centre is the triangular Piazza della Cisterna, lined with medieval houses.
