Just 14 km from our campsite stands the ancient Etruscan-Roman city of Vulci. The archaeological route in the unspoilt nature of Maremma features excavations and finds from the ancient city, as well as noble Etruscan tombs, some of whose furnishings are preserved in the nearby archaeological museum, housed in the medieval Abbadia Castle. Here you can also marvel at the dizzying devil’s bridge across the Fiora river, in its deep canyon of volcanic rock.
As well as typical plant species, this uncontaminated watercourse offers sightings of porcupines, hares, wild boar and the emblematic animals of this fabulous and wild area, Maremmana cattle.
